Novus Rider Explained
The Novus Rider provides up to date information of Fixed, Specs, hotspots area for Mobile and Red light camera and accident blackspots with clear natural voice announcements. The Novus Rider has a built in rechargeable battery lasting up to 8 hours in Power Save mode. This is also an excellent product for motorcycles. (Please note that the unit is not water proof, so you would place the device in a jacket pocket or in a Tank bag).
Novus Rider is preloaded with a comprehensive speed camera database. Further speed camera database updates are free to download and require a PC with USB port and Internet access.

Rider alerts
When you are approaching a fixed speed camera or a possible mobile speed camera site, the Novus Rider warns you approximately 500 yards before the speed camera. Our research has show that this is the preferred distance, giving ample advanced warning, but not too much such that you forget about the location of an approaching speed camera!
When you are 500 yards from the speed camera, a voice inside will say for example:
"Warning! Speed Camera 500 yards ahead, Limit 30 miles per hour."
When you are 200 yards away, the Novus Rider senses whether you are over speed for the approaching camera. If you are travelling at or below the speed limit, you will not be hassled with constant alerts before passing the camera or other hazard. The Novus Rider knows exactly how fast you are travelling by the GPS satellite technology and the award winning database knows the speed limit of the road on which you are travelling.
If you are exceeding the speed limit in the last 200 yards before the speed trap, Novus Rider will say:
"Attention! Reduce Speed."
It keeps repeating this message until you reduce your speed to the speed limit or below.
Cable free operation
Novus Rider is powered via an internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery. This provides 4-5 hours operation in normal mode and 7-8 hours of operation in low power mode. The Novus Rider internal battery can then be charged either by the in car power lead or a PC/laptop using the USB cable. Both cables are supplied as standard with the Novus Rider. Typical in car battery recharging time is 70 minutes; by PC USB cable 140 minutes.

Novus Rider alternative purchases

Snooper 3ZERO
Like the Novus Rider the Snooper 3ZERO has been designed to be standalone and is ideally suited to be dashboard mounted.
However unlike the Novus Rider which features a GPS database of speed camera locations the Snooper 3ZERO in addition also includes a built-in Radar and Laser detection. Providing alerts to mobile speed cameras and warnings to 'live' Gatso speed camera sites.
Speed camera warnings on the Novus Rider like the Snooper 3ZERO are displayed on an LED text display. Novus Rider (when sold) included a free lifetime subscription to the Novus speed camera database. Snooper 3ZERO subscription is priced at £2.99 a month, £7.99 a quarter or £29.99 a year.

Novus Alpha
Novus Alpha V3 features the same speed camera database as the Novus Rider. But whereas the Novus Rider displays all alerts via a green LED text display, the Novus Alpha V3 utilises a 1.5-inch OLED screen, displaying speed camera type, camera speed limit, your vehicles speed and proximity bar to the speed cameras location. Meaning that, in addition to the voice alerts, at a glance all the necessary speed camera information can be read by the driver.
Novus Alpha V3 also features an infra red remote control making it easy to select the various different camera/hazard warning types. Novus Alpha V3 also features a unique vehicle profile setting from car to HGV, which allows the user to select the vehicle type that they are driving and receive speed limits specific to their vehicle.
Like the Novus Rider, the Novus Alpha V3 features a free lifetime subscription to the Novus speed camera database.
