Gatso Speed Camera on Broadwater Road, Broadwater and Worthing town (30mph)
This Gatso speed camera is located on Broadwater Road near Broadwater and Worthing town in West Sussex, monitoring aimed towards south moving traffic traffic with a 30mph speed limit.
At the end of a large dual-carriageway between Broadwater village and Worthing town centre. Travelling South, out of Broadwater, there are three sets of traffic lights on this road. The speed camera is after the third set, just beyond a petrol station to the left, and just before the road bridges the railway near Worthing station. No indication that you are in a 30mph zone, with no speed indicator signs. The last speed command signs you see are 40mph, so motorists assume the limit is still 40mph. A very cunning trap, but feel unlawful, due to the absence of speed indicator signs showing 30mph. Catches innocent motorists, who feel they are driving well within the limit, visiting Worthing as tourists, and unaware of its presence. I fell for it on Christmas Day morning, doing a modest 37mph.
